Providing Community and a Sense of Belonging

At CommuniKeys, we offer meaningful, strength-based community experiences and skill-building opportunities for individuals with communication differences — focusing on connection, expression, and thriving relationships.

Workshops
At CommuniKeys, our workshops are designed as purposeful, adult-centered learning experiences — not passive programming.

Each workshop is built around presuming competence, supporting communication access, and creating opportunities for meaningful engagement. Participants explore creative expression, adaptive skills, physical movement, and community participation in small cohorts with individualized support.

Unlike traditional day programs that prioritize time-filling activities, our workshops emphasize:
-
Intentional skill development
-
Sensory-informed design
-
Authentic contribution
-
Public-facing engagement when appropriate
-
Communication respect and scaffolding
Workshops evolve each year based on participant interests, staff expertise, and community partnerships — ensuring our offerings remain dynamic, relevant, and growth-oriented.
Community Fun
Community Fun at CommuniKeys is about more than outings — it’s about belonging in public spaces.

We intentionally partner with local businesses and organizations to create inclusive, accessible experiences for autistic adults and non-speaking individuals in Northern Colorado.

From trivia nights and brewery partnerships to adaptive recreation and cultural events, these experiences:
-
Build social confidence
-
Increase community visibility
-
Strengthen peer relationships
-
Normalize inclusive participation
-
Expand access to public life
We do not isolate our community — we anchor them in it.
Our model ensures participants are supported in small cohorts with staff who understand communication differences, sensory needs, and purposeful movement strategies.

Social and Skills Building Activities
Social connection is a core human need — and too often, autistic adults lose structured opportunities for authentic peer engagement after high school.

Our Social & Skills Building Activities are designed to foster:
-
Peer relationships
-
Communication confidence
-
Self-advocacy development
-
Emotional regulation
-
Collaborative participation
Activities are thoughtfully structured, not chaotic or overstimulating. We prioritize safety, dignity, and agency in every interaction.

Rather than generic “social time,” we create intentional environments where participants can practice real-world interaction skills while being fully supported and respected.
Summer Family Adventure Camps
Our Summer Family Adventure Camps are immersive, multi-day experiences designed to strengthen the entire family system.

These camps provide:
-
Shared adventure in sensory-informed outdoor environments
-
Opportunities for sibling connection
-
Parent networking and support
-
Participant independence growth
-
Community-building among families
Families consistently describe these experiences as transformative — not because they are extravagant, but because they are designed with deep intentionality, accessibility, and relational care.

We do not simply host camps.
We build connected community ecosystems.
